Holiday Villancicos at LA CUEVA: Flamenco Underground

ABOUT THE SHOW
Experience the raw, wild, and deeply improvisational nature of flamenco at Toronto’s intimate underground venue BSMT 254.
Did you know that flamenco has deep Christmas roots?
Villancicos — now known as Spanish Christmas carols — actually began as village folk songs centuries ago. In Andalusia, they mixed with local rhythms, Moorish melodies, and Gitano traditions to become flamenco villancicos — joyful, soulful carols sung in bulerías, tangos, or rumbas compás.
Every December, families and friends gather to sing, dance, and celebrate community through this living tradition.
